Representatives from the GEMS project, Jeroen van Hunen, Alexandra Sweeney, Stuart Jones and Kalila Mackenzie attended the Murton Heritage even on the 18th and 19th November 2023 at the Glebe Centre in Murton, Seaham. The event was organised by Derek Gibson, and the GEMS project team members displayed Durham University and the GEMS project’s research in geothermal energy making use of disused coal mines. This event led to engaging with those in the community and garnered useful information to the mining history in the area.
